WHEN IT IS NECESSARY TO LEAVE THE BABY IN THE CARE OF SOMEONE ELSE

During the first few months, it's always recommended that the mother take care of her baby, especially when breastfeeding; the baby is just adjusting to its new life, beginning to identify with voices, smells, and the sensations produced by contact with its parents.

However, there are circumstances in which it is necessary to leave the baby with another person. Don't feel bad about it, but it requires the right decision so as not to affect the baby's safety, peace of mind, and stability.

At this point there are two situations:

The mother who has to return to work after her disability and must leave her baby with someone or in a room for most of the day, and the mother who has to go out to a meeting where she can't take her baby and must leave her baby with someone for a short time.

Since we've talked a lot about daycare, today we want to focus on the second situation.

At any time, it happens that only you can do an activity during the day that requires your presence without the baby, such as legal procedures, a doctor's visit, etc., or at night, such as a family wedding, an emergency, or an unavoidable commitment.

Ideally, you shouldn't take your baby out. During the first few months, it's important to respect their sleep schedule and peace of mind. You need to always have two or three people you can count on to care for them, preferably family members.

It is important that when your baby is born you allow potential guests such as grandparents, aunts and uncles or some trusted relative to make regular visits to your home. They will be able to see how you sleep the baby, how you position him in your arms, if he likes to be sung to, how you position him in his crib. If possible, let them do this from time to time so that the baby gets used to their voice, their smell, their presence. This way, when you have to go out, you will be sure that the person caring for him knows him.

It's recommended that the caregiver be familiar with babies, not afraid of holding them, and neither too young nor too old, as your baby needs alertness, immediate reactions, and strong arms.

If you are breastfeeding your baby, try to have frozen milk that you have collected in advance (we will talk about this another time), have the bottles that they can use ready and even have the bottle warmer with the milk ready just to plug it in. Remember that the babysitter will not have the skills that you have already acquired and this will prevent your baby from becoming restless longer while waiting.

Make sure you have diapers, diaper rash cream, and a change of clothes in a visible place so that nothing surprises the caregiver and everything is within easy reach. Write down your cell phone number and other phone numbers where they can contact you in case of an emergency.

You wouldn't want to leave him/her! But don't worry, it's part of everyday life, just circumstances, moments, your baby will always prefer you and you will always give him/her your best time.
